Music lovers will experience music at its best when Berea Madzonga Resort will be staging a music festival at Zwigodini on Good Friday.
According to the spokesperson of the organisers, Rendani Sikhwivhilu, some of the artists who will perform in the festival are: Killer Gee, King Mlatiro, Mafikizolo, DJ Arch Junior, Oskido, Professor, Alfeus Ramavheya and many more. The programme directors will be Phalaphala FM's morning drive-show presenter Jantibai Jones "Tshigalane" Netshipise and Jimmy "Da Scratcher" Netshilulu.
Sikhwivhilu said that the festival started two years ago and had gained momentum in terms of participation and results, despite not being taken seriously by some groups within the media sector. The festival aimed to provide a development platform for the growing number of local artists who leave the region to go to Johannesburg to seek opportunities. "We see the event as contributing to social cohesion and nation building, while entrenching our African identity through musical performances," he said. "Our main aim is not to make profit from this festival, but to market our province and show our talent."
According to Sikhwivhilu, the festival further aims to expose the untapped talent so abundant in the communities served by the organisers as well as talent from neighbouring SADC countries. The gate will open at 11:00 and the entrance fee will be R150 per person. The security will be very strict, he added.
