When the history of the Musina Council of Churches (MCC) is recorded in a book, the name of Pastor Modiba Samuel Mudzunga will appear in a special chapter. A pioneer and founder member of the MCC, Mudzunga served the people of Musina diligently and faithfully until he took his last breath last week.
Mudzunga passed on at the ripe age of 90. He was a staunch member and highly respected pastor of the Musina Assemblies of God Fellowship. At the time of his death, he was the treasurer of the Musina Council of Churches.
When paying tribute to Mudzunga during his funeral service at Musina last Wednesday, Musina Mayor Mihloti Muhlope described him as a faithful servant of God who had strived to better his community. Muhlope said the people of Musina had lost a great man who had contributed immensely to spreading the gospel of God in the border town.
Pastor Samuel Tshikhudo of the Musina Council of Churches said Mudzunga had laid a very good foundation on which MCC was now operating. "As MCC, we are saddened by his passing because he was a pillar of strength in our day-to-day activities. However, we console ourselves by the fact that Mudzunga's good deeds will remain in our minds forever."
Family representative Alpheus Tshisevhe said the fact that Mudzunga had been a people's person who was loved by many was clear. "Although we are grieving, it gives us comfort to note that we have been getting support from all directions since this tragedy befell our family. We will miss all the good memories we shared with our loved one, but we thank God that his life has touched many people. We thank everyone who has been there for us during this difficult time."
