The community of Musina and the family of Abram Seakamela (46) expressed their shock at his death on Wednesday, 27 January.
According to Tshepo Seakamela, her brother was a diabetic and died at his home as a result of complications from it. "We are really saddened by the death of Abram. He was prepared to help not only family members but the whole of the Musina community. During school holidays he would take young people for sports training, as a way of getting them off the streets. He was a humble man," Tshepo said.
She said that Seakamela had been a popular sportsman in the community. He also assisted as a hairdresser and as an adviser to many.
Theodore Maoko, a sports guru in Musina, said that Seakamela was one of the founders of the Musina Masters and that he had contributed to the gathering by legends in December last year. "His passing has left a gap for the top executive of the Musina Masters," Maoko said.
Seakamela worked in the electricity unit that falls under the Technical Services Department of Musina Municipality. The municipality said that Seakamela's death was a huge loss to them.
He is survived by his wife and four children and was laid to rest on Sunday, 31 January.
