Musina residents urged to prepare for planned water shutdown

Musina residents will experience a 12-hour water supply interruption on Wednesday, 17 June, from 07:00 to 19:00, due to essential pipeline maintenance by Vhembe District Municipality.

Residents of Musina and surrounding areas will face a planned 12-hour water supply interruption on Wednesday, 17 June, as the Vhembe District Municipality carries out essential maintenance work.

The interruption will run from 07:00 to 19:00 and will affect Musina town, Nancefield, the Beitbridge Border Post and all areas supplied by the Musina Reservoir.

According to the municipality, technical teams will repair pipeline bursts along the main line between the Limpopo River Pump Station and the Musina Reservoir, and replace a faulty bulk flow meter at the reservoir inlet.

Residents are advised to store sufficient water for domestic use before the shutdown.

The municipality warned that consumers may experience discoloured water, airlocks and low water pressure when supply resumes because of disturbances in the pipeline system. Residents are encouraged to run their taps until the water runs clear.

Water tankers will be deployed at strategic points to assist affected communities, with their locations to be communicated once confirmed.

The municipality apologised for the inconvenience, saying the maintenance work is necessary to improve the reliability of the water supply and reduce future unplanned interruptions.
