If the connection between Zimbabwean star Munaishe and popular local music maestro Acolly Mandiza is anything to go by, the local music industry has found a refreshing new sound.
The two dynamic and passionate musicians have joined forces to release a powerful EP, Muzika Wa Africa.
The much-anticipated joint EP was released on 6 March. Packed with rich storytelling and cultural depth, the project features six powerful tracks: Vhutshilo, Lufuno, Hune Ndabva, Musanda Foundation (Dedication), Ndo Naka, and Muzika Wa Afrika.
The EP was launched at the vibrant MRock Restaurant in Pretoria, where fans got their first taste of this inspiring musical journey. The event was filled with energy, passion, and a deep appreciation for African music and heritage.
The launch also marked the announcement of an upcoming nationwide tour.
"I first met Munaishe during a TikTok Live session hosted by Musanda Musanda of the Musanda Foundation," said Mandiza. During the session, he was captivated by Munaishe's lyrical craftsmanship in Shona. "I reached out and invited him to the studio, so we could collaborate. Fortunately, he is currently based in South Africa, which made it easier for us to connect and bring our vision to life. From there, we embarked on the journey of creating this EP, blending our unique styles and cultural influences into something truly special. We decided to take our music directly to the people, and the album launch also served as the starting point for our nationwide tour," he said.
For the second leg of their tour, the duo will bring their electrifying live performance to Thavhani Mall News Cafe in Thohoyandou on 30 March.
"This tour stop promises to be a night of high-energy music, soulful performances, and a true celebration of African artistry," said Mandiza.
Fans can also look forward to a star-studded lineup, with special guest appearances by legendary and rising stars in the industry, including veteran musician Elvis Mandiza & Sibasa Pirates (Acolly Mandiza's father and his band), Big Ropza, Muvhonetsheli, Givergivero, and Thidziambi de Poet.
