Some learners from around the Vhembe District received a much-needed boost before the start of the 2022 final examinations when well-known musician and award-winning gospel sensation Aubrey Takalani paid a visit to their schools two weeks ago.

Takalani, better known as Takie Ndou, came up with the idea to use his music as a form of motivation for learners before the exams. The anointed singer, songwriter, and music producer reached more than 22 000 learners with some of his all-time favourite gospel hits, including the songs Ngiyabonga, Litadulu Lo Vuleya, Jesus is Mine, and He Can Do.

The learners sang along to Ndou's songs of inspiration, receiving the message of hope that, with God and dedication to their work, they were sure to succeed. "These are difficult times for our brothers and sisters. We hear bad things when learners are filled with anxiety. Some of them even go to the worst extremes, like committing suicide. They need a voice to talk to them, and this is the reason I took it upon myself to move around schools to sing and talk to them," said Ndou

"The learners were truly fired up and ready for the upcoming exams. We are very hopeful that they will make it and contribute to the improvement of the results in the Limpopo Province. Music is therapy and soothes their mind, body, and soul. I am a musician, but I went to school first. Without education, there is no development and future," he said.

One of the learners, Tshiwela Ravhuanzwo of Thengwe Secondary School, said the session had really lifted their spirits. "His presence at our school was a blessing for those of us who were nervous and scared over the upcoming examinations. We feel motivated and ready now. We are very thankful for his visit and will try not to disappoint," she said.
