The former Limpopo Mirror correspondent and Chief Executive Officer for the Limpopo East Regional Football Association, Mr Samuel "SMS" Matodzi, is now the Techincal Coordinator of the 2010 project under the Department of Sports, Arts and Culture in the Gauteng Province.

His appointment came into effect on Monday this week.

Matodzi's work experience dates back to 1987 when he was appointed as an assistant teacher on a two-year contract at the John Shavhani Secondary School. He joined the Great Northeast Regional Association as the Chief Executive Officer in May 1999, a position he held until 2003.

What Matodzi describes as a dream come true happened in February 2003 when he was appointed the League and Tournament Officer for the South African Football Association. He opted for a voluntary severance package during the restructuring process for the association in August last year.

When asked about his duties as the technical coordinator for the 2010 project, Matodzi said that he will be interacting with the 2010 local organizing committee on behalf of Gauteng Province on issues related to infrastructure development. He further revealed that his other duties will include interacting with other spheres of national, provincial and local government on issues relating to project management.

Matodzi is equipped with diplomas in journalism, office administration, sports management and commerce.

Matodzi said that he is dedicating his latest move to the Director of Sports and Recreation at the University of Venda, Mr Kirsten Nematandani, the Director of Technical Services in the Thulamela Municipality, Mr Eric Muneri and the Sports and Recreation Officer at Thulamela Municipality, Mr Ronald Makhadi.
