The rural village of Guyuni-Hadagada near Tshamulungwi in the Mutale area functioned without a traditional leader for nearly six years until the instalment of their new chief and rightful heir to the Guyuni-Hadagada throne, Vhamusanda Raphalalani Dagada, during an inauguration ceremony on Saturday, 23 October.
Dagada succeeded his late father, Vhamusanda Philip Dagada, who died in 2016.
Thovhele Ratshibvumo II Rammbuda did the usual honours of reminding the new chief of all the great responsibilities now entrusted to him, and he urged the communities to respect their new leader.
Several senior traditional leaders, including Thovhele Vudzidzhena Nethengwe, Thovhele Thivhulawi Makumbani, Thovhele Vele Kutama (who is also the chairperson of the Vhembe House of Traditional Leaders), and some headsmen (misanda) from Ha-Rammbuda, attended the ceremony.
Bishop Khotsimunene Isaak Dagada encouraged the new traditional leader to follow in the footsteps of his father and forefathers who had previously ruled the village.
Olga Dagada-Raphuli was named khadzi, while Tshililo Dagada was named ndumi.
Vhamusanda Raphalalani Dagada pledged his dedication in serving the community and promised to seek wisdom from God.
