A new traditional leader, Headman Ntshavheni Ratombo, was installed at Tshituni-Tshafhasi during a glittering event on Saturday.
When installing the new headman, Khotsimunene Vho-Japan Mphephu said a new chapter in the Tshituni village leadership has been opened. "I hereby officially announce that Ntshavheni is your new traditional leader. Whoever disobeys him will indicate that he also does not respect me who put the new headman in power. His new traditional leadership name is Mpfuneni," said Mphephu.
Mphephu urged the residents to give the new leader "complete respect as you did to his father". He also told the new headman that he is installed during a time of transformation "and you have to join the train and never agree to be left behind." Mphephu added that the new chief should cooperate with other leaders and work with his people for the benefit of the Tshituni community.
The mayor of the Makhado local municipality, Cllr Shonisani Sinyosi advised the new traditional leadership to work hand in hand with different stakeholders for the development of his society. She said that she attended the ceremony to emphasise the strength of the relationship between traditional leaders and politicians. "When I know the leader in this community, it helps us (politicians) to deliver service in a transparent manner and to understand the needs of the people," said Sinyosi.
