The Celliers Disaster Fund is in aid of victims of the fatal bus accident at Muraleni in April this year which saw the death of 10 people.
The money donated to boost the fund forms part of an agreement reached between Zoutnet and the P&L Hardware Cycling Club. The cycling club undertook to pay for a full-page full-colour advertisements wherein they thanked all who supported the annual Kremetart One Day Stage Race. Zoutnet, on the other hand, agreed to then give the money paid for the advertisement to a charity of their choice. As part of their social responsibility, Zoutnet decided to donate the money to the victims and grief-stricken families of those who lost loved ones in the tragic accident.
Upon receiving the donation, Mayor Rhulani Nkuzana expressed his sincere gratitude towards Zoutnet and the P&L Hardware Cycling Club. He stressed the fact that several family support systems were completely lost with, in several cases, the death of a family’s only breadwinner in the accident. The chairman of the said disaster fund, Cllr Takie Makananisa, added to this by saying that the money will go a long way in touching the needy in a positive way. He said the money will definitely make a difference.
