As one of their many ways to ensure that their players will still participate in the NFD next season, the Limpopo-based Magezi FC recently acquired the services of seven experienced players.

According to the club's chief executive officer, Mr John Mathibe, their aim is to finish their league programme within the top eight bracket. When asked if the target was achievable considering the fact that Magezi are languishing at the bottom of the 16-team log, Mathibe said that with the wealth of experience within their camp, anything was possible.

The seven new recruits are midfielders Tokelo Langa from Polokwane City and Sifiso Siluma from ABC Motsepe League side Ama BEE FC, a defender Thabo Mokgalushi from FC Cape Town, Azwinndini Maphaha (keeper) from The Dolphins FC, strikers Josef Lekata from Steenberg United and Thembisani Nevhulamba from Black Leopards and a winger, Gift Ramaxwaila, from the ABC Motsepe League side, Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila (TTM). Ramaxwaila played for Magezi for two seasons while they were still campaigning in the ABC Motsepe League.

He could not reach an agreement with the club after the team gained promotion to the NFD at the end of last season. He then decided to keep himself busy by assisting TTM, where he spent three months before saying goodbye to the club. "We had to recall Ramaxwaila after realizing that his skill was lacking in the team," said Mathibe.

Magezi will start their second-round league programme by hosting Witbank Spurs at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane tomorrow afternoon. They will fly to Cape Town next Wednesday, 15 February, where they will test their strength against Stellenbosch FC at the Coetzenburg Stadium.
