All ABC Motsepe League fixtures for the Limpopo Stream that were initially scheduled for this weekend have been postponed to next weekend (16–18 May).
According to a statement from the league, the decision was taken to allow the league's disciplinary committee to conclude outstanding cases.
Some of the unresolved matters include the two abandoned matches between Vondwe XI Bullets and Mpheni Defenders. According to the league coordinator in the province, Refiloe Khoza, the league has set aside next Tuesday, 13 May, for the fixtures—should the disciplinary committee rule that they be replayed.
Khoza said the plan was to conclude the league's activities for the current soccer season next weekend, to give the teams that finish top of the streams enough time to prepare for the national promotional playoffs. This year's playoffs will be hosted in either Gauteng or the Free State.
Mpheni Defenders represented Limpopo in the last two seasons. The top three teams in the national promotional playoffs will be promoted to the Motsepe Foundation Championship. Highbury FC and Kruger United finished top of the playoffs last year. Kruger United are now among the Championship teams vying for promotion to the Betway Premiership.
Vondwe XI Bullets and Mpheni Defenders are in a two-horse race for the Limpopo title. Although Munaca FC currently lead the standings, they are likely to forfeit top spot to either Bullets or Defenders as they have only one fixture remaining in their league campaign, while both Bullets and Defenders have two matches outstanding.
