No development as Nemasera Civic Association splits

According to the former general secretary of the association, Mr Samuel Matodzi, the association was formed about eight years ago. Several developmental projects, including the water supply scheme, came as a result of the efforts made by the association during its time of existence. According to Matodzi, things turned bitter when some of the civic association members decided to go their own way.

"The division among the association members affected development a great deal in the area as we could no longer speak with one collective voice when we approached the government structures like the municipality," said Matodzi.

In a bid to revive the association, Mr Matodzi decided to take the bull by the horns and facilitated a general meeting at the Matondoni Primary School last Saturday. A local ward councilor, Mrs Sylvia Rammela, was one of the high-profile guests who attended the meeting.

After some lengthy discussions, the meeting resolved that there was a dire need for the revival of the Nemasera Civic Association. The meeting also tasked some people to go and investigate the factors that led to the death of the association. According to Matodzi, a report-back meeting will be held at the same venue on Saturday, October 18. Matodzi indicated that the street taps are dry most of the time since the death of the association while the condition of the roads in the area leave much to be desired.
