Cllr Rapson Rambuwani of the Vhembe District Municipality has urged pupils at Mukula Secondary School to take their studies seriously and not be tempted into unbecoming behaviours such as falling in love with their teachers or abusing alcohol and drugs.

Rambuwani spoke during the handover of desks and chairs at the school by Ngululu Holdings. During the event, which took place on Friday, an executive of Ngululu Holdings, Adv Sivhaga Netshitomboni, handed over 50 chairs and fifty tables for Grade 12s. The Mutshundudi circuit manager, Ms Homani Muhanganei, representatives of the Takalani royal family and Ms Rudzani Takalani approached the company for the donation.

Netshitomboni said giving and development had become part of the company. "We were at Dengenya last year, where we handed over furniture to the school. We distribute blankets to the needy at Steelpoort on an annual basis and donated water tanks at schools. When the request came, we felt we should assist here and there. We could not allow a situation where our Grade 12s could attend classes seated on the floor and standing. We want to motivate them to attain the best results," he said.

The principal, Mr Cosmos Mathivha, said they lacked words strong enough to thank Netshitomboni and his company. "We have so many challenges and needs here at the school, but what Ngululu has done will make a big difference to our Grade 12s. We call upon other businesses and induvuduals to come on board and assist," he said.

Mathivha further indicated that the desks and chairs were not enough, but what the company had donated would go a long way in motivating the pupils to work even harder.

Rambuwani said he was disturbed by the fact that pupils no longer took their education seriously and were involved in unproductive behaviours that let them lose focus on their studies. "Please take education as your future and do not rush into things like sex, because what you will get is diseases and unplanned children," he said.
