The Oscar Mphetha Stadium in Polokwane was a hive of activity over the past weekend as the SAB League provincial promotional play-off matches were staged there.
Teams representing the five Safa regional associations in Limpopo battled it out for places in the ABC Motsepe League. The five teams that entertained the soccer fanatics throughout the weekend were Madridtas FC from Vhembe, Mamaila Citizen Brothers (Mopani), Ditlou FC (Sekhukhune), Mokopane Ratanang (Waterberg) and the hosts, Molemole Academy from Capricorn.
Molemole Academy started the tournament with a bang when they beat Mamaila Citizen Brothers 3-1 in their opening match. Academy beat Madridtas 1-0 in their second match to ensure they collect six points in the opening day for the tournament.
Molemole Academy were held to a 3-3 draw by Ditlou on Sunday morning before losing 1-3 to Mokopane Ratanang 1-3 later in the afternoon. Ditlou were totally out of touch and collected only two points in the two-day event.
They drew 2-2 with Mokopane Ratanang in their opening match. Their second match was against Mamaila Citizen Brothers, to whom they lost 1-5 on Saturday afternoon. Dtilou went further to donate points to Madridtas (1-3) the following day. They drew 3-3 with Molemole Academy in their final match.
Madridtas lost their first two matches. They were beaten 0-1 by Molemole Academy in their opening match and 3-4 to Mokopane Ratanang in their second match. They beat Ditlou 3-1 and Mamaila Citizen Brothers 4-2 on Sunday.
The top two teams in the tournament, Molemole Academy and Mokopane Ratanang, will be campaigning in the ABC Motsepe League when the activities for the new season start in September.
