In their ABC Motsepe League match at the Tshifudi Stadium on Saturday, Joe Maweja showed no mercy to Lephalale Young Killers and beat them 3-1.

Maweja were unstoppable from the onset, with their midfielders regularly distributing dangerous passes to the frontrunners. It took Young Killers only 10 minutes to open their account when Sipho Twala was on target with a half volley. Maweja were awarded a penalty two minutes later. It happened after a defender of Killers, Lawrence Seopela, handled the ball within the penalty box. Thanzi Muruge made no mistake from the white spot.

Maweja increased the margin three minutes later. Moses Mathonsi was on target with a ground cutter after he received a beautiful pass from Mashudu Mukhari.

Killers made several attempts to break the defence of Maweja, but it was rock solid. The home side scored the third goal through Lufuno Tshidada in the 30th minute. He caught the keeper napping and blasted in a rocket from the 25-meter area. Killers missed a fortune in the 38th minute. They received a penalty after Freddy Kgare was brought down within the box, but Sipho Twala shot straight at the keeper.

Both sides used all their substitution chances in the last half. The teams continued to display entertaining football, even though no goal was seen in the last half. Maweja came close to scoring again in the 84th minute when Takalani Mashila shot wide from close range.
