The family members of an elderly lady from Muledane Block N, near Thohoyandou, who went missing on 15 May, are desperately hoping to receive any news that might shine a light on what could have happened to the lady.

Selinah Mashau (69) went missing after she had gone to pay her burial-society money at Tshakhuma. She did not return and was never seen again.

"We have sleepless nights since our mother went missing and we keep on praying that she might be recovered alive one day. We are also worried that, if she died or was killed, we need to get her body, so that we can give her a dignified burial," said her distraught daughter, Maitele Mashau.

According to Maitele, they were reliable informed that the granny had arrived at Tshakhuma village that day and paid the burial society money as usual. "We tried to search the banks of the river, Dam View in Tshakhuma and in the mountains, but to no avail," added Maitele Mashau.

Police detective in Thohoyandou Sergeant Rembuluwani Nekhavhambe confirmed that Mashau was last seen in Tshakhuma village. He said she had visited the burial society's premises, where she had met up with other family members. She never returned home to Muledane.

People with any information can contact Detective Sergeant Rembuluwani Nekhavhambe on 071 511 1213 or 015 960 1000.
