Malabela was responding to the report that appeared on the website of one of the national soccer magazines early this week. On the website, the magazine has indicated that the team’s head coach, Lifa Qosha, and his assistant, Alex Balepa, were retrenched on Monday morning.
“The author of that article is a liar, if I may put it that way,” said Mr Malabela. He revealed that he was in the company of the two men, Qosha and Bapela when he received a call from the reporter of this newspaper. “Look, I am in the company of Lifa and Bapela as am speaking to you right now. We are from Cape Town and we are busy planning for our Sunday match against Moroka Swallows which will be played at the Giyani Stadium,” he said.
When asked about the team’s current performance, Malabela stated that it was true that his team was not producing the positive results anticipated, but he reiterated the fact that it was premature to think of parting ways with the technical staff.
The report went on to say that the former Dynamos and Black Leopards coach, Jacob Sakala, has been approached by Malabela to take over as the new coach with immediate effect. Mr Sakala, who is the head coach of the Vodacom League side, Italian Juventus FC, could not be reached at the time of going to press.
Dynamos lost their last three matches in a row. They lost against Kaizer Chiefs and Bloemfontein Celtic before their 1-3 defeat last Sunday at the hands of Santos at the Athlone Stadium in Cape Town. It remains to be seen whether they will bounce back when they host Moroka Swallows at the Giyani Stadium on Sunday.
