Univen FM presenter Thembuluwo Nemakhavhani is fast becoming a stalwart in the local broadcasting industry. For him, radio is more than just a career – it is a passion.

Known on air as "Doupe T South," Nemakhavhani hosts Nnkho ya Lushaka on weekdays from 14:00 to 15:00. He also presents The Jukebox on Fridays from 20:00 to midnight and the Univen Weekend Party on Saturdays from 21:00 to midnight.

Originally from Tshitangani, Nemakhavhani began his schooling at Kokwane Primary and completed his matric at Nngweni High School. His radio career took off in 2013 when he joined Univen FM.

"The station manager and his team were impressed with my talent and couldn't believe I had no prior radio experience. They immediately offered me a position and asked me to start working," he said.

Nemakhavhani believes staying informed is crucial for a radio presenter. "It's important to listen to radio, read newspapers and magazines, and watch television to stay updated on global news. Since I work for a community station, I also ensure that I provide plenty of local content for my listeners."

Asked about the secret to his success, he said: "Perseverance, hard work, motivation, and time management are key. I've always believed that no matter how many shots I miss, I'll make the next one."

For him, being a radio presenter is a calling. "Nothing soothes my soul more than radio. It's everything to me - I can't live without it. When I'm in the studio, I forget about everything else. It's like entering a different world."

To succeed in broadcasting, he said, one must be committed and dedicated. "It's a cutthroat industry. You can't afford to pass up opportunities - they might be your big break. Stay humble and be willing to learn every day."
