Music lovers from the Vhembe District had a joyous day at the launch of the first annual October Fest Music Festival, which was held at the News Café at Thavhani Mall on Saturday evening, 26 August. More than 500 people attended and were entertained by performances from well-known artists such as Kamogelo Mphela, popularly known as Kamo Mphela of VenRap, and many more.

The launch was organised by the Marshal Nation record label, which was founded by well-known businessman Robert Mashau and Mizo Phyll in 2022.

The October Fest Music Festival is not just a social, multiracial lifestyle event, but also offers meaningful engagement with a progressive audience that has a taste for celebrating cultural diversity and music, and embracing the finest lifestyle.

Mr Zwivhuya Nemaungani, the manager of Marshal Nation, said the festival also served as a vehicle for social impact and economic recovery through tourism in Limpopo. "Marshal Nation was established as a means to empower and unleash talent throughout our areas of operation," he said. Local businesses also have the opportunity to showcase and sell their various products, such as food, clothing, and artwork, at the festival.

Mizo Phyll said they were really proud of the outcome of the launch. "We are now looking forward to the main event, which will be held in October, with all the exciting artists announced in the lineup and more entertainment activities to unfold as the days draw closer," he said.

Mizo Phyll added that the Vhembe Region, along with the rest of the country, was filled with talented youngsters who sought opportunities but had limited resources. "We are committed to uplifting and creating a network that will close the gap between local, national, and international artists, creatives, and media establishments," he said.
