Ofhani Munyai, a sports journalist at FARPost, has been crowned the winner of the 2025 MTN8 Last Journalist Standing quiz competition. The event took place in Mbombela, Mpumalanga, on 12 September, ahead of the MTN8 final between Orlando Pirates and Stellenbosch.
The quiz, which tests the football knowledge of sports journalists and presenters, saw Munyai outshine eight other finalists from across the country. He walked away with a cheque for R80,000.
Munyai, who hails from Itsani in Vhembe, expressed his gratitude to his family, colleagues, editors and supporters. "This is the beginning of great things in my media career. I know that I'm still going far through passion and hard work. The award shows that people appreciate the work journalists are doing," he said.
Well known for his updates across sporting codes, Munyai began his career at Turf FM in 2006 before moving to Capricorn FM in 2009, where he worked until 2019. He later joined FARPost and also produces the Huduba Buse sports show on Phalaphala FM.
He said preparation was key to success in journalism. "You have to do your homework before every session by thoroughly researching the news. My achievements are possible because of my followers' constructive criticism and support, and I will never take that for granted."
