A sensational gospel star and pastor, Mpho Godfrey Mbau, was laid to rest in Tshivhulani Tshimbupfe village last Wednesday morning.
The 40-year-old gospel star died on 16 July in the Kalafong Hospital after a short illness.
Mpho was famous for his gospel hit song, Hallelujah Murendeni featuring Lebo Sekgobela, and he also shared the stage with famous artists such as Lufuno Bhuda, Taki na Rofhiwa and Maumela Mahuwa.
Pastor Tshifhiwa Mawelele, Mpho's cousin and family spokesperson, described Mpho as a good person who grew up in the house of the Lord. "He left us when he was still very young and, as a family, we are hurt because we expected a lot from him," he said.
"Life is not about how many years you have lived, but it is about how many good things you did in the time you lived, and as young as Mpho was, he left an impact on the world," he added.
In 2011, Mpho accepted the call of God as a leading pastor for Victory Worship International ministries in Atteridgeville. His singing career started at the Apostolic Faith Mission under the leadership of Apostle Mulaudzi at the age of nine. He released his debut album, Worship Invitation, in 2014.
His second and last album, entitled Worship Encounter, was released in 2016.
Mpho is survived by his wife, three children, and three siblings.
