Several players of Tshivhazwaulu Peace Makers, a team playing in the Safa Vhembe MMK Administrators league, received trophies, cash and certificates for their achievements the past season, during a function held at the Tshivhazwaulu Community Hall on Saturday, 3 September.
Peace Makers ended in second position in the Champs of Champs tournament after being beaten by United Artists at Thohoyandou Stadium three months ago.
According to the managing director of the team, Mr Fhatuwani Magogodela, the main purpose of the function was to motivate the players. "They deserve to be honoured in public, because what they have done makes everyone of us proud."
The guest speaker, Vhamusanda Vho-Dr Davhana Nesengani, said success did not necessarily start on the field. "Success goes hand in hand with planning. You must set achievable goals for yourselves, and you will then reap success." Nesengani said he was proud of the quality of sports development in the Vhembe region as a whole
The players who received awards were: Young Player of the Season - Surprise "Villa" Phalandwa; Most Improved Player of the Season - Anzatshilidzi "Maela" Mulaudzi; Most Disciplined Player of the Season - Rinaye "Lampard" Madzhuta; Defender of the Season - Takalani "Luxury" Mamavhi; Goalkeeper of the Season - Ntakadzeni "Zela" Mondelani; Midfielder of the Season - Ntanganedzeni "Backer" Mudau; Top Goal Scorer of the Season - Khathutshelo "Marikana" Madzhuta; Players' Player of the Season - Ntakadzeni "Zela" Mondelani; Player of the Season - Mpho "General" Khwalu; Longest-Serving Player of the Team - Takalani "Luxury" Mamavhi.
