Tshivhazwaulu Peace Makers held Univen FC to a 2-2 draw in their MMK Administrators League match at the University of Venda Stadium on Sunday.
The students were by far the better side when it came to ball possession in the first 30 minutes, but their strikers showed no appetite for goals. At that stage, the visitors from Tshivhazwaulu were playing defensive football.
The hosts were awarded a free kick in the 35 meter area 12 minutes into the game. This after their dribbling wizard, Shaun Hlungwane, was tackled from behind by Takalani Mamavhi. Nature Moraba beat the keeper with a volley from the free kick.
Realizing that their central defender, Glad Thilivhali, was out of touch, they replaced him with Ronewa Musiwa in the 24th minute. Peace Makers gained momentum towards the end of the first half. They were also awarded a free kick in the 25 meter area in the 37th minute. The keeper of Univen, Brilliant Mashao, missed the ball. Steven Mashau blasted in a rocket to bring the half-time score to 1-1.
Tshamano Maladzhi of Peace Makers and Edward Motsai of Univen were warned with yellow card immediately after the referee blew the half-ime whistle.
The visitors took the lead nine minutes into the last half. They were awarded a penalty after a defender of Univen, Mulisa Munwana, handled the ball within the box in the 59th minute. Pfunzo Dzuguda scored from the white spot. Urangani Ramulongo of Peace Makers was booked for dangerous play two minutes later.
Univen found the equalizer during the referee's optional time. Mulisa Munwana beat the keeper with a ground cutter.
