When motivational speaker, relationship consultant and author from Tiyani village Pfumelani Ngobeni hosted a radio show on romance years ago, it made him realise just how many couples suffer challenges in their relationships. This inspired him to write a book that sheds some light on the topic of love and relationships, to help couples get through some of those obstacles.
Ngobeni's book, titled A Hopeful Relationship, was launched recentl, showcasing his influence in publishing circles.
Ngobeni (37) did his Bachelor of Arts, majoring in communication, translation and linguistics studies from the University of Limpopo a few years ago, and worked as a presenter and producer for GCR FM in Giyani in 2014.
His book gives advice to those who are already in a relationship. "There are a lot of things in a relationship that demand compromise, sacrifice and tolerance. If people read the advice I share in this book, maybe we won't have so many single parents because of divorce or break-ups," he said.
He said that the aim of his book was not just to help couples work through their problems, but to fight divorce and gender-based violence (GBV). "I want to make sure that people lead a healthy relationship and a happy life. I believe this book has the potential to change many people's lives for the better," he said.
The book also encourages those who have lost all hope in finding love with the right person.
Two years ago, Ngobeni established an online radio station, called North FM. According to him, many people phone in every day, seeking advice, and he is happy to see so many positive reactions, even on social media.
