Phadziri Bus Service demonstrated its commitment to promoting development, education and social upliftment in South Africa by offering a free winter and autumn school to disadvantaged Grade 12 pupils in remote areas.

The company donated R245 000 to the Sinthumule/Kutama enrichment project during a ceremony at Madombidzha last Tuesday.

During the presentation of the cheque, the chairperson of the Sinthumule/Kutama enrichment project, Mr George Mathivha, urged all the educational stakeholders to work as a team for the development of education in their area. "The time for pointing fingers among ourselves is over. We must join hands to create a better life for our children. By encouraging our kids to take education seriously, we are also waging a war against crime, poverty and unemployment," he added.

The manager of Phadziri bus company, Mr Doctor Phadziri, said his company was happy to be able to contribute towards the development of education in the rural areas. "This is part of our company's mission of giving something back to the community. We hope other companies will learn that it is important to reward members of the community because they are the ones who made us what we are today."

According to him, an educated and independent nation always achieves its goal, as it will always be easier to work together and to plan for their future.
