Phelophepa Healthcare Train to visit Louis Trichardt

The Phelophepa Healthcare Train will offer vital medical services in Louis Trichardt from 1-5 June and 8-12 June, operating from 07:30 to 16:00 daily.

The Phelophepa Healthcare Train is expected to provide healthcare services to residents in Louis Trichardt from 1 to 5 June and again from 8 to 12 June at the Louis Trichardt Railway Station.

The mobile healthcare facility will operate from 07:30 to 16:00 on weekdays, offering a range of primary healthcare services aimed at improving access to medical care in underserved communities.

Services will include free general health screenings, counselling, diabetes testing, cancer education and screenings, as well as pap smears, prostate and breast screenings.

The train’s dental clinic will offer free screenings and education, while extractions, fillings and cleanings will cost R10 per procedure. Dental services will be free for children aged 16 and younger. False teeth are not provided.

An eye clinic will also provide free vision screenings. Glasses will cost R30 per pair and eye drops will cost R5. However, eye operations and bifocals are not available through the service.

Organisers said counselling services will be provided by qualified professionals to assist people dealing with stressful life situations.

Parents and guardians have been advised to accompany minors seeking healthcare services.

Residents are encouraged to arrive early and bring their clinic cards, as treatment will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis.
