Planned power outage affects Mara Line and surrounding areas

Maintenance work is underway at the main substation, and residents are advised to treat all electrical infrastructure as live.

Makhado Local Municipality has informed residents this morning (11 June) that an electricity supply interruption on the Mara line has resulted in power outages and low-voltage conditions in several areas.

The interruption affects the Bandelierkop, Mara, Levubu 1, Levubu 2, Tshifhire and Mountain lines. Areas experiencing outages or low voltage include Muananzhele, Khunda, Matshavhawe, Songozwi, Magau, Tshiozwi, Ha-Mantsha, Makhitha, Madodonga, Zamekomste, Manavhela, Tshikhodobo and the Mara farming area.

According to the municipality, maintenance work is currently being carried out on electrical infrastructure at the main substation. Residents have been urged to be patient while technicians work to restore normal supply.

The municipality apologised for the inconvenience and warned that electricity could be restored without prior notice. Residents are therefore advised to treat all electrical appliances, outlets and power lines as live at all times.
