Police closed Stubbs Street in Louis Trichardt to intercept robbery suspects fleeing from Modimolle. Two men, aged 44 and 48, were arrested, and items including cellphones were recovered. Further details on the robberies or court appearance are pending.

Residents of Louis Trichardt and surrounding villages were left puzzled on Monday, 16 February, when police closed off Stubbs Street without providing an immediate explanation.

Information available to the newspaper indicates that the road was sealed off following a high-speed operation involving robbery suspects who had fled from Modimolle.

The two suspects, aged 44 and 48, allegedly committed robberies in Modimolle before fleeing in a white Hyundai Staria. They drove towards the Makhado policing precinct, prompting coordination between Modimolle police and their counterparts in Makhado.

During the arrest, police recovered gloves, cellphones and a power bank from the suspects. Rumours that the suspects were armed have not been confirmed by authorities.

Police in Makhado assisted in intercepting and arresting the suspects in the Louis Trichardt area. Further details regarding the nature of the robberies or the suspects’ court appearance have not yet been released.
