The body of a police inspector attached to the Family Violence Unit was discovered in his Madombidzha home with a bullet wound to his head and his service pistol lying next to him.

The body of a police inspector attached to the Family Violence Unit was discovered in his Madombidzha home with a bullet wound to his head and his service pistol lying next to him.

The SAPS at Tshilwavhusiku opened an inquest docket following the death of the 42-year-old male police inspector attached to the Child Protection and Sexual Offence Unit and stationed at Makhado (Louis Trichardt).

According to a police statement, the deceased’s body was discovered on Tuesday at 16:30. The police were summoned and, on arrival, found the body in the family’s main bedroom with a bullet wound to the back of his head. A 9mm-pistol and an empty shell were found next to him.

The police investigation continues.
