Tshira Emporium Funeral Services stepped in and assisted a poor family from Tshikota to bury their two-year-old child, Tendai Matsimbi. The girl's body had been lying in the mortuary for two months while the family tried to raise funds to pay for her funeral.

The funeral company donated a full funeral, including an impressive tombstone, groceries and other funeral needs. The funeral ceremony took place at Tshikota on Saturday.

The CEO of Tshira Emporium Funeral Services, Ms Joyce Mabetoa, said that when they had heard about the plight of the family, they went to their home to assess the situation.

"We found the situation wanting. This was poverty at its worst and we decided to assist the family to bury their loved one with dignity. We are not in this village only to make a profit, but to assist and bring about change where possible."

The mother of the deceased girl, Ms Thandi Zizai, thanked the company for the good gesture. "We have many businesses in the area, but they turn a blind eye when it comes to helping the poor community." She also thanked the community who assisted them in their time of grief.
