Isaac "Ramzeey" Ramalata, who gained musical popularity by bringing a unique feel to local rap sounds some three years ago, has recorded his much-awaited debut album, Muraga.
The album boasts 17 tracks, including O shanduka, Murathu, Riya fana, Fhulufhelo, andRido swika.
"It's a musical foundation which is based on love, unity, and respect," Ramzeey said. "People loved Muraga from the first day it was launched. The support is overwhelming."
He added that music is part of his culture and tradition. "I speak and sing against xenophobia," he said. "I fail to understand why we are always fighting instead of building one another. Love needs to rule among us."
A resident of Makonde village, Ramzeey gained tremendous popularity with his anthem-like song, Ndiya mufuna, in December 2012. He discovered music from a new angle when he was staying in Durban, where he bought himself a laptop computer and fed it with recording programmes.
He indicated that he had worked on this album for around three years and that he was expecting fans to buy original CD's and not piracy. "As a team at Ramzeey Records we have put our all on Muraga," he said. "We did it for all of you as our fans."
The CD is available at Cash Crusaders Thohoyandou, and other good music stores. Those interested in Ramzeey's music can contact Rita Dee Entertainment at 082 066 6533.
