On Tuesday, 20 June, the office of the Public Protector (PP) in Limpopo introduced a drop box for complaints at the offices of Thusa Lushaka Paralegal and Advice, a non-profit organisation (NPO) operating from the Maranatha complex in Louis Trichardt.
The direct complaints method is in line with a working agreement between the two entities. Rendani Ramagoma, director of Thusa Lushaka Paralegal and Advice, said they were optimistic that the partnership would go a long way in ensuring that all malpractices that continued to impoverish residents within the Makhado Municipality would stop. He pointed out that residents often face challenges with state entities when trying to seek justice for matters they are involved in.
Ms Jay Nkuna from the Limpopo Public Protector's office's outreach unit said, "This partnership is an additional platform through which the PP's office can be reached. We hope that, through this partnership, many residents will be aware of our services."
Nkuna told Limpopo Mirror that they would also join Thusa Lushaka Paralegal and Advice as they moved around in communities. The drop box will be located at the Thusa Lushaka Paralegal and Advice's office. The PP will collect complaints monthly.
Residents in need of the PP's office can call them at 015 295 5712 or 061 435 9382.
