The Premier of Limpopo, Dr Phophi Ramathuba, has urged the people of Musina to emulate the life of the late Hleziphi Hilda Ntuli. Ramathuba was speaking during the funeral service held in Musina on Saturday, where a large crowd gathered to pay their respects to Ntuli, who passed away aged 79.

Ntuli was a respected struggle activist during apartheid, a community builder, caregiver, and founding member of Musina Gogo Getters, a group that promotes healthy lifestyles among elders. She also served on various community structures, including multiple terms on the Musina Municipality Ward Committee. Ntuli was the mother of Musina Municipality Council Speaker Evelyn Siyaphi Shirilele.

Premier Ramathuba said the current generation should learn from Ntuli's community work. "She left a legacy reminding us that life is a precious gift from God. Though she is gone, we will always remember the good she did for this community. Her contributions will live with us forever."

Limpopo Economic Development MEC Tshitereke Baldwin Matibe recalled first meeting Ntuli as leader of the Gogo Getters. "Dressed in their uniforms of the South African flag colours, I was impressed by their dance and commitment to fitness. Ntuli and her colleagues showed that, despite age, senior citizens can play a meaningful role as health ambassadors."

Former Musina Mayor and Municipal Manager Abram Luruli described Ntuli as supportive and loving. "Before democracy, she was at the forefront of the fight against apartheid, risking her life for comrades. After 1994, she participated in nearly all government activities to improve her community. People like her don't die — they multiply."

Cllr Evelyn Siyaphi Shirilele remembered her mother as a loving woman who taught respect, love and good manners. "She encouraged us to value education, so we could help eradicate illiteracy in society."
