Local music producer Kislev Ramanyimi, better known as Flash Cortez, has secured his first international accolade by winning the prestigious Best Producer award at the Lesotho Music Awards (LMAs). The event was held at Victory Hall in Maseru, Lesotho, marking a significant milestone for the Waterval-born talent.
Flash Cortez's journey in music began at an early age, playing drums in church while still in Grade 3. By 2019, he had developed expertise in mixing, mastering, and beat production, quickly becoming a sought-after figure in the music industry.
His exceptional talent caught the eye of The Whole Time Entertainment, a record label established by the late Malome Vector in Lesotho, where he is currently signed. "This is a dream come true because I've always aspired to be an international producer. Waterval is well represented, and I dedicate this award to Malome Vector," he said.
One of his standout tracks, Phambili nge War, has amassed over 1.4 million streams on YouTube, a testament to his creative prowess and growing influence. After receiving the award, Flash Cortez returned home to celebrate with his mother. "This recognition inspires me to keep pushing boundaries in the music industry," he added.
Renowned artists such as Ntate Stunna and Sannere have lauded his work, further solidifying his reputation as a rising star. Flash Cortez is now committed to putting local music on the global map while encouraging aspiring artists to follow their dreams.
"When I came to Lesotho, I started getting bookings despite not receiving much recognition back home. I didn't realise I had so much support. I've since relocated to Lesotho because I felt underrated in South Africa," he said.
