The Nzhelele Women Sports Promotions, in partnership with the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture, will be presenting a boxing tournament at Nzhelele Biaba on Saturday evening.

The tournament was postponed last month and it is expected to attract many boxing lovers from around the area.

Many boxing enthusiasts are already talking about the fight between Thompho Matodzi and Nomthuthuzeli Chikani from Gauteng.

The programme also includes match-ups between Rofhuiwa Nemushungwa and Nombeu Seth; Onke Duku vs Humbulani Netshamuthsedzi and Nyelisani Thagamaga vs Zolile Miya from Gauteng. Thagamega said that he was going to beat his opponent, probably with a TKO. He said that nothing would stop him from beating Miya.

Ten bouts will take place during the tournament. Balanganani Ndou will meet Thizwilondi Nempandoni and Mashudu Ramakuwela will exchange blows with Gudani Mudau. Two Vhembe boxers, Rendani Ramudzuli and Dion Mbubana, will meet in a light-featherweight fight, which is scheduled over eight rounds.

The promoter, Ms Mashudu Nemulalate Nekokwane, promised that the fights will produce maximum entertainment. "Limpopo has an abundance of talent when it comes to boxing. We must nurture and promote them to achieve greater heights, so that we can galvanise the future of boxing. In Limpopo, we have very few champions, so let's support them and raise the flag high," Nemulalate said.
