The South African featherweight title is at stake during an exciting professional boxing tournament at the Giyani Community Hall next Saturday evening (20 June).

The South African featherweight champion, Oscar Chauke, is challenged by the Limpopo provincial champion, Prince Ndlovu. The two fighters are both from Malamulele and their bout is scheduled over 12 rounds.

The opening bout will be between two local boys, Pfariso Neluvhalani and Godfrey Nemukongwe. This will be in the featherweight division and is scheduled over four rounds.

In an international featherweight bout, the former South African champion, Sydney Maluleke, and Tawanda Chigwiza from Harare in Zimbawe will meet over eight rounds. Chigwiza is the Zimbabwean champion.

In the only female contest of the evening, Bukiwe Nonina, a local star, will meet Diana Makumbe in their bantamweight division fight over eight rounds. Makumbe hails from Harare.

In the main supporting bout, the Limpopo super-middleweight champion, Benson Hobyane from Malamulele, and Johannes Peterson from Gauteng meet over eight rounds. This match up is likely not to go beyond the fifth round, especially if Hobyane does what he did to his last three opponents.

The organisers are Hlanganisa Sports Promotion, in conjunction with the Greater Giyani Municipality. The entrance fee will be R30 (juveniles), R50 (adults) and R100 for ringside seats.
