Deep-house vocalist and producer Pushie Da Tall has returned with Spirit & Sounds, a project born from a period of spiritual reflection and personal grounding. The release marks a significant step in her artistic evolution, exploring themes of love, faith and emotional resilience while staying true to the deep-house sound that defines her work.
Pushie explains that the project's foundation emerged during a time when she sought stability through faith. Inspired by a personal encounter with God, she says the central theme is finding calm in God amid life's uncertainty. "No matter how bad things are, God is still here for us," she says — a message that resonates throughout the project's lyrics and delivery.
Musically, Spirit & Sounds maintains her signature deep-house identity, built on warm textures, driving rhythms and soulful vocals. Pushie describes this as her musical DNA, while expanding its emotional depth. The creative process was intentional, beginning with beats and evolving into mood-centred compositions. Much of the material was written in isolation, though she invited her children to provide feedback, adding honest emotional insight to the songs. She aimed for tracks that feel like a late-night city drive, yet remain suitable for praise and worship.
Pushie collaborated with X-Soul RSA, DJ Davic of Masana Records, Tremza and ShortBass. These partnerships, she says, were long-standing aspirations, with each producer adding distinct energy and texture to the project. Studio access limitations caused delays, which she overcame by refining vocals and arranging lyrics until recording could resume.
Audience response has been overwhelmingly positive, particularly to online snippets. Pushie sees her supporters as co-curators guiding her creative direction. The rollout includes intimate performances in December at Dream Club Maxasini under the Deephouse Alliance, and at Thathe Tea Estate for the Forest Explosion event.
