Teams competing in the Cllr Enock Sithi Soccer and Netball Easter Challenge will battle for a share of R120,000 in prize money.
The senior tournament features 16 soccer teams and eight netball teams, with matches starting on 3 April and finals scheduled at Mukondeni Grounds across two playing fields.
Ace Mbedzi, public relations officer of the organising committee, said grassroots competitions are crucial for identifying future stars. He also praised sponsors for supporting initiatives that discover and develop talent in the region.
Soccer prize money is as follows: the winners will receive R40,000, a floating trophy, a new soccer kit and gold medals; runners-up will take home R15,000, a soccer kit and silver medals; third place will receive R6,000, bronze medals and a soccer kit; fourth place will get R4,000 and a soccer kit.
Netball champions will receive R10,000 and a netball kit, while runners-up take R4,000. Third place will receive R1,500 and bronze medals, with fourth place pocketing R700.
