R150 000 fine for Dynamos

A heavy fine was imposed on one of the Limpopo-based National First Division League clubs, Dynamos Football Club, by the Premier Soccer League's disciplinary committee during its meeting which was held at the league's offices last Friday evening.

According to the league's prosecutor, Mr Zola Majavu, The pride of Giyani were ordered to pay a fine of R150 000 after they were found guilty of registering a player, Patrick Mesu, improperly.

Majavu revealed that Dynamos were given until last Tuesday, May 19, at 17:00 to submit their written mitigating factors in order to allow the committee to determine an appropriate sanction. The fine was suspended for 12 months, on condition that they are not found guilty on a similar offence during the time of their suspension.

Dynamos were ordered to pay the costs of the sittings within 30 days. Majavu was quick to mention that the costs of the sittings were estimated at about R100 000.

In another matter which was also heard last Friday, FC Cape Town were ordered to pay a fine of R150 000. They were also found guilty of registering a player, Mahau Vincent Motumi, improperly. The fine was suspended for 12 months, on condition that FC Cape Town are not found guilty on a similar offence during the period of their suspen-sion. Although the fine was conditionally suspended, FC Cape Town were also ordered to pay the costs of the sittings, amounting to R100 000, within 30 days.

Dynamos finished their league programme in the fifth position on the Inland Stream log. They managed to collect 27 points throughout the season, one above the other Limpopo side, Black Leopards.
