The richest soccer tournament in the Vhembe area, the Talelani Liguluvhe 3rd Edition Top 32 Soccer Challenge, was officially launched at Munau Primary School on Saturday, 7 March.
SAFA Vhembe teams can register for the tournament, which runs from 3 to 26 April at the Ramantsha Grounds. Teams from the Makhado Local Football Association are also eligible to compete. Entry is free.
Prizes are valued at more than R200,000, with the first-place team receiving R70,000, a floating trophy, gold medals, and two new soccer kits. Second place earns R30,000, silver medals, and two kits, while third place takes R10,000, bronze medals, and a kit. The fourth-place team will receive R7,000 and a kit.
Tournament director Rendani Mutheiwana said the event aims to empower local teams and provide youth with structured activities. “We will continue to empower local teams, so that we can build a healthy nation, while at the same time keeping the youth off the streets this soccer season. Soccer players should take this tournament very seriously because we have invited professional soccer teams to scout for players during the games,” he said.
Ephraim Singo, deputy president of the SAFA Vhembe Regional League, urged players and club officials to maintain discipline, warning that misconduct could damage the reputation of the organisers and sponsors.
