This weekend marks the start of the long-awaited promotional play-offs of the Safa Vhembe Region. The champions from the nine MMK Administrators League streams in the region are gearing up for the annual event.
The teams that had made it to the play-offs are: Matsika Shooting Stars (Stream A), Madridtas FC (B), United Artists (C), Tshakhuma Na Ndilani (D), Makhitha Oscar Stars (E), Wayeni Sea Robbers (F), Tshivhilidulu Hungry Lions (G), Musina United (H) and Rambuda Young Fighters (I). Apart from the prize money that is at stake, the overall champions will qualify for the provincial promotional play-offs that will be staged at Seshego Stadium next month.
The overall champions will become R40 000 richer and the top two teams in the provincial play-offs will be promoted to the ABC Motsepe League.
Tomorrow (Saturday), four matches will be staged at the Tshifulanani Stadium and three at the Makwarela Stadium. The matches that will be played at the Tshifulanani Stadium are: Matsika Shooting Stars vs Madridtas (08:00), Tshakhuma Na Ndilani vs Wayeni Sea Robbers (10:00), Tshivhilidulu Hungry Lions vs Matsika Shooting Stars (12:00) and Madridtas vs Tshakhuma Na Ndilani (15:00). The matches at the Makwarela Stadium tomorrow are: United Artists vs Rambuda Young Fighters (08:00), Makhitha Oscar Stars vs Musina United (12:00) and Tshivhilidulu Hungry Lions vs Wayeni Sea Robbers (15:00).
Matches scheduled for Sunday at the Tshifulanani Stadium are: Tshivhilidulu Hungry Lions vs Tshakhuma Na Ndilani (08:00), Madridtas vs Tshivhilidulu Hungry Lions (12:00) and Tshakhuma Na Ndilani vs Matsika Shooting Stars (15:00). The three Sunday matches at the Makwarela Stadium are: Makhitha Oscar Stars vs United Artists (08:00), Rambuda Young Fighters vs Musina United (10:00) and Rambuda Young Fighters vs Makhitha Oscar Stars (15:00).
The players to watch in the promotional play-off matches are Eethe Khaukanani (Madridtas top striker), Thomas "Razor" Makhubele (United Artists' dribbling wizard), Desmond "Danger" Netshiungani (Tshakhuma Na Ndilani veteran striker) and Rofhiwa Mabila (Oscar Stars' Rastafarian fast foward).
