Rapper and music producer Treasure Luvhimbi is ready to take the music industry by storm as he prepares to release his debut album, titled Sthembiso, next month.
Better known by his stage name of RamJay DABA, Luvhimbi hails from Masakona village. The album Sthembiso addresses life's challenges and encourages people, especially the youth, to remain strong in the face of adversity. For the album, Luvhimbi has collaborated with seasoned artists such as Mac J Macfam, Dj Lagugga, Batondy, and Mauvhelwana Remedy.
He shared his musical journey with Limpopo Mirror: "Music is in my blood because I grew up in a family of musicians. My father was a singer in the Rainbow Choir back in the 90s, and I used to attend rehearsals with him. That sparked my love for music at a young age, and the desire to become a successful musician has stayed with me ever since."
Although this is his debut album, Luvhimbi is not new to the music industry. He previously released a single, titled Sarafina, in 2018. He explained: "The success of Sarafina motivated me to work harder towards releasing a full album. For Sarafina, I collaborated with Batondy, and I was impressed by the 3,800 streams it achieved. That was a significant milestone for me, especially as it was my first venture into the music recording industry. People began to notice my talent, and I received more bookings, sharing stages with renowned artists like Mizo Phyll and Romeo de Great White."
Sthembiso, which features 16 songs across genres such as hip hop, R&B, and rap, showcases Luvhimbi's versatility. He explores languages including Tshivenda, Sepedi, Swahili, and IsiZulu to connect with fans from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds.
"I always tell people that most successful individuals have faced numerous challenges to get where they are today. We should never give up on our dreams, which is why Sthembiso is here to encourage those who feel like giving up," Luvhimbi said.
