The first edition of the Randima IP Soccer Tournament was launched in style at the Randima family home in Mutshenzheni last Saturday. Sixteen teams from the village and neighbouring areas will contest for honours in what promises to become a highlight on the local football calendar.
Tournament sponsor and organiser Vhahangwele Randima says the winners will walk away with R15,000, two sets of kit, gold medals, a floating trophy and two soccer balls. The runners-up will earn R10,000 and silver medals, while third- and fourth-place finishers will receive R5,000 and R3,000 respectively, along with kit and soccer balls.
The draw for the opening round was conducted at the launch, setting up some exciting fixtures. Pile Fast Mighty Killers will face Badirammogo FC, Muthelo Shooting Stars take on Mianzwi Green Hornet, and Matangari Rising Stars meet Tshapasha Western FC. Other clashes include Mutshenzheni Gorillas against Managa Uprising Stars, Tshiombo XI Securitas versus Makwarani Frelimo Boys, Tshibvumo TFA against Matangari High Aims, Rambuda Young Fighters versus Mutale Vikings, and Maraxwe Happy Boys up against Mangaya Living Commodores.
