Versatile musician Mashudu Ravuluvulu, popularly known as Ravusto, has cooked up a storm of Venrap and reggae offerings.
The 36-year-old artist, who was born in Fondwe, Nzhelele, and later relocated to Makwarani outside Thohoyandou, has released two fiery singles: No Dzumbiwa, a Venrap hit, and Muloro Wanga, a track rooted in deep reggae. The singles, released a month ago, were recorded at RVT Records.
On No Dzumbiwa, he collaborated with the talented Pross Boy.
According to Ravusto, the singles are a stepping stone towards a Tshivenda traditional album, which he plans to release soon. "I felt I could not wait any longer, as I had burning messages that I wanted to give to my fans," he said. "Muloro Wanga comes as a warning to my fans not to divulge their life plans. They may end up sharing with enemies who will, in turn, block and become stumbling blocks for those plans to materialise. Some of your enemies pretend to be close friends while secretly working to destroy you. The secret is to tell them some things, but keep what is important to yourself."
No Dzumbiwa explores the issue of partners who hide their relationships for ulterior motives. "People should be transparent in affairs — this will keep the love flowing," said Ravusto.
His musical talent emerged early. At the age of 15, he was recruited as a choir member for the local Makwarani village choir. He later became an influential and prominent member of the local ZCC choir.
The singles are now available on all major digital platforms.
