Registration is now open for teams eager to take part in this year's Lumveleni Festive Season Soccer Tournament.
This year's edition is expected to be the biggest yet, both in terms of participating teams and sponsorship.
According to tournament director Lloyd Mashapha, 32 teams from Vhembe will compete in the event. Mashapha said registration would be on a first-come, first-served basis, with only the first 32 teams to register eligible to participate. The registration fee is R1,000, payable in full.
Mashapha revealed that this year's champions will receive R25,000, a floating trophy, gold medals and a soccer kit. The runners-up will take home R10,000, silver medals and a soccer kit. Teams eliminated in the semi-finals will each receive R5,000, while those knocked out in the quarter-finals will each get R1,500.
The opening matches are scheduled for Tuesday, 16 December, with the semi-finals and final set for Sunday, 28 December. All matches will be played at the Ngudza Young Vultures Grounds.
