Registration is open for teams wanting to take part in this year's edition of the Taki's Soccer Tournament.
According to the founder and sponsor of the tournament, Takalani Prince Rabali, the registration window opened on Monday and will remain open until organisers receive proof of payment from the 32nd team.
Rabali said the number of participating teams has increased to 32 this year. The opening matches will be played at various open grounds, while the round-of-16 fixtures will be staged at the Rabali Stadium. Sixteen teams from local football associations will take part, with the remaining 16 coming from the Safa Vhembe Regional League.
This year's champions will walk away with R20,000, a soccer kit, gold medals and a floating trophy. The runners-up will receive R15,000, silver medals and a soccer kit. Teams knocked out in the semi-finals will each receive R7,000, while those eliminated in the quarterfinals will take home R5,000 each.
The opening matches will be played on Saturday, 20 December, while the semi-finals and final are scheduled for Sunday, 28 December. More information can be obtained by phoning Freddy Phathela on 076-1812535.
