Black Leopards are paving their way out. They were among the top five clubs on the log at the beginning of the season, and are now perched in the fifth last spot, with 18 points gained from 18 matches. Lidoda Duvha are still to win a league match in the new year.
The two points that they had managed to deposit into their league account were accumulated from their 2-2 and 3-3 draws against Dynamos and Highlandspark Silver Stars respectively.
Leopards are still mourning their 0-1 defeat at the hands of Santos Football Club at the Thohoyandou Stadium last Saturday. Their victory over Black Leopards has pushed Santos to the top of the log, with 37 points. Hellenic are at the bottom of the log, with six points.
Their Giyani-based counterparts, Dynamos, qualified for the SAA Top 8 KO Competition last season, but made a dramatic turnaround during the past season.
Their performance leaves much to be desired. The Giyani dynamites have played 17 matches so far, winning one and sharing the points on 11 occasions. The only match in which they managed to steal a full compliment of points was when they beat Supersport United 3-1 at the Loftus Stadium in Pretoria.
Their worst result is the 0-5 defeat that they suffered at the hands of Orlando Pirates last Saturday. If the current league log were the final one, Dynamos would be accompanying Hellenic to the lower division, thus leaving residents of Giyani in the cold. Their defeats continue, although the team received their first sponsorship, R1 million, from Admiral Sportsware at the end of last month.
