Rendani Joseph Magau, also known as Rendy J, from Tshituni Tshafhasi village, started the new year on a high note with the release of his latest gospel single, Neani.
Magau's musical journey began at the age of six when he joined the Sunday-school choir of the United African Apostolic Church (UAAC). It was here that he started honing his songwriting skills, composing songs for the choir. He also discovered his passion for preaching within the church.
"As a contemporary gospel artist, my aim is to bring back and sustain a spirit of intense praise and worship, where believers worship the Heavenly Father in truth and in spirit," he said. The release of Neani was a direct response to his fans' requests. "I wouldn't have been where I am today if it were not for the support from my fans," he added.
Magau believes that music should not only be a source of entertainment but also a powerful tool to bring hope to the hopeless and faith to the faithless. Speaking about what makes his new single special, he said it represented a step up in his musical journey.
He attributes his success to hard work and dedication and describes himself as a worship minister, visionary, songwriter, and singer. He is passionate about leading people back to an authentic, biblical form of worship. "I believe that music is a powerful tool we can use to heal people," he explained during an interview. "It helps us understand that everyone faces challenges in life. Some people don't want to talk about their problems, but by listening to music, they feel strengthened. Music is the food of the soul and plays an important role in transmitting the word of God."
Magau is also working on a full album but says he is taking his time to ensure the same level of quality his fans have come to expect. The album is set to be released later this year.
