The residents of Ravele, Ramantsha, Gogobole and Tshiozwi are still struggling without electricity, after thugs stole the cables in 2005.

According to one of the residents, Mr Tshililo Ramutshila of Tshiozwi Village, it happened three years ago and the problems had not been fixed since, despite numerous promises by the Makhado Municipality. "They promised to fix the problems by last year and now they are saying this year. We are still waiting. We are not even sure whether they will honour their promises this time," he said.

Pointing at the nearby transformer, the villagers explained that the ezinyoka stole the cables by switching off the current before cutting cables near the houses. They don´t know who will be next. Tomorrow it might be more villages if these criminals are not arrested.

Ms Kutama Lavhengwa of Gogobole, who is unemployed and survives by selling fruit and sweets at the school, blames the problem on the municipality. She says they don´t care about people. The Makhado Municipality spokesperson, Mr Louis Bobodi, confirmed that the municipality is running short of funds. He said that the problem will be solved soon.

In the new financial year, which started last month, "we are going to fix all the electricity cables vandalized by the ezinyoka." Bobodi appealed to the community members to report any damage or vandalized property of the government to the police.
